General Information

 

We are happy to announce that splash! 2023 will be cashless. This means that on-site payments with cash or credit cards are not possible. At the entrance you exchange your ticket for a festival wristband that contains an RFID chip. This serves as your digital wallet for the duration of the event.

You can load money onto your chip both before and during the event and then pay quickly and conveniently on the festival site. So you not only have an uncomplicated and convenient payment option, but also always an overview of all your transactions and expenses.

After the festival, you can claim your remaining balance online.

However, we recommend that you set up a cashless account on our website before the event. It's easy, convenient and free, and allows you to top up your balance in advance.

In this FAQ you will find all the important facts about the cashless system. Of course you can always contact us if you have further questions or need our help! In these cases please contact cashless@splash-festival.de.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

TOP UP YOUR CASHLESS BALANCE NOW IN ADVANCE AND AVOID WAITING AT THE TOP UP STATIONS ON SITE!

► Go to: CREATE A CASHLESS ACCOUNT NOW! to create a cashless account

Important: If you haven't received a ticket code already, please take care that there is only one(!) splash! 2023 ticket left in your DICE account. If you have more than one ticket in your account, please forward the other tickets to your festival buddies before creating the account. You will receive your ticket number in a seperate email (send out starting with beginning of June) 3-4 days after purchasing a ticket or being done forwarding the tickets. 

► Change the language in the top right of the field to "EN"

► Enter the email address you have used for your DICE account and click "Continue".

► Enter your first and last name, date of birth, email address of your DICE account and a password.

► Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Send".

► Enter the code you received from DICE or the barcode number of your ticket and click "Submit". (The code can be found in an email you've received from DICE if there's only one ticket left in your account.)

You haven't received a code from DICE yet? Then check whether you only have one festival ticket left in your account or contact DICE Support.

► Click on an amount (e.g. €50.00) + "Top up" to load money onto your cashless account.

► Tip: We recommend that you do this online before the festival to avoid unnecessary waiting on site!

► Choose a payment method and click on "Pay".

 

Why Cashless?

There are numerous advantages to a digital payment system:

Because cashless payments are accepted throughout the festival site, it is quicker and easier to settle accounts at the bars and stands – this results in fewer waiting times. In addition, you always have enough money with you, very practical on your wrist!

Other advantages are:

  • no cash or debit cards to lose while partying. The RFID chip is permanently attached to the bracelet;
  • Shorter waiting times thanks to faster billing at bars and food stands;
  • Topping up credit is simple and secure;
  • we prevent theft and fraud;
  • if you have a cashless account, we can transfer money to a new chip if your old chip is lost or damaged. If you lose your wallet at a cash event, your money is either gone or you have to hope for an honest finder. That doesn't happen at our festival!
  • all purchase and top-up receipts are available online
  • we believe in transparency - everything is easy to understand at any time;
  • a digital system is simply a must in 2023!

 

What are the fees and deadlines?

We have certainly prepared such an overview for you:

  • You can top up online from 05/26/2023 on.
  • The refund period for your remaining credit begins on 07/05/2023 - 6:00 p.m.
  • You have until 08/05/2023 - 6:00 p.m. to claim your money back.

Some transactions have a small fee. This fee covers staff costs, transaction fees, helpdesk, online support and logistics.

  • Top up your cashless account online: Free
  • Top up with a debit/credit card at an on-site self-service terminal: a one-off amount of 1,50€ is due.
  • Refund: a one-off amount of 0.50€; with a minimum balance of 1.00€ will be charged.


Top-up fees:

Some transactions have a small fee. This fee covers staff costs, transaction fees, helpdesk, online customer support and logistics.

Uploads via the cashless account, on the other hand, are always free! If you don't have one yet, set one up now: Set up an account!

 

Is cash still used?

Cash and other forms of payment (debit and credit cards) will not be accepted throughout the festival. The cashless system or the RFID chip on your festival wristband is used exclusively for payment. You can use it to pay at any bar, food truck or other point of sale.

In addition, it will NOT be possible to top up your chip with cash on site!

 

How does the cashless account work?

You can set up a cashless account for free on our festival website, you can find the link here!

You can use this account to top up your credit, check your expenses and transactions and have any remaining credit paid out to you after the event.

We have provided a simple guide to setting up the cashless account. Here is a step-by-step guide!

 

I need help or have a question that isn't covered here. Who can I contact before, during and after the event?

We have our own crew who have a lot of experience with cashless systems and can answer all your questions.

You can reach us before the festival via the cashless support email: cashless@splash-festival.de

We have our own helpdesk at the event where you can get qualified help so you can start partying straight away. The opening hours are at the Help Desk.

The crew will be available again on the cashless support email after the festival.

 

Charge

The RFID chip on your wristband serves as a digital wallet that you can use to pay at the event. You can charge it with money in different ways. Please note: the chip is the only means of payment at the festival!

What are the options for loading money?

You have various options for loading money onto your cashless account and your chip:

- Before the event, online

Set up your cashless account in advance. This is the most convenient, easiest and of course free option! Here is the link!

All you need is the barcode number of your ticket. Then you simply select the amount you want to top up and pay. Upon arrival at the festival, after your ticket has been scanned, you will receive a festival wristband with an RFID chip. You can then start partying straight away without having to queue at a top-up station!

- During the event

If you haven't registered an online account yet, that's no problem: After scanning your ticket at the entrance, you'll receive the festival wristband with a chip. You can top up this at one of the many top-up stations on site. On-site charging may incur additional charges. We will inform you about this before the charging process.

- During the event, online

We have another great feature for you. A QR code is printed on your chip. You can scan this with your cell phone and it will take you to a payment page. There you enter the amount and the desired payment method, and voilà! Your chip has been topped up with new credit. You don't have to queue at a top-up station, but your mobile phone must be connected to the Internet.

A tip!

You are not required to register your RFID chip online, but we strongly encourage you to do so! This is also very important in case you lose your festival wristband or want a refund of any unspent money after the event.

What is the minimum amount I need to top up and what is the maximum amount I can top up?

You are not obliged to load money onto your chip. This does not affect access to the event. You can load a maximum of EUR 250.00 onto your bracelet.

Which payment methods can I use to top up?

We accept Visa, Master, Debit and EC-cards. You can use the self-service stations or your festival account on site.

 

Refund

How does the refund process work?

We will make it possible to refund the remaining credit via your cashless account shortly after the festival. Please note the applicable deadlines and fees

It is important that you keep the chip until you receive your refund.

How it works:

1. After the event you will receive an e-mail that the refund of remaining credit has now been approved.
2. Log in to your cashless account. By clicking on the "Withdraw" button; under the item "Transactions" you can have the remaining credit refunded.
3. After that it takes about 2 weeks until you have the money back.

 

How long will it take to get a refund?

We process all requests promptly and aim to process refunds within two weeks.
 

What are the costs?

We charge a small transaction fee for the refund. You can find all conditions in this FAQ in the Fees & Deadlines read.

 

Where can I get my festival RFID wristband with chip?

Once you reach the festival, you must visit one of our wristband exchange stations and show your Dice ticket.
Then you will receive your bracelet including your already activated RFID chip.

If you have already loaded money onto your bracelet, it will be available immediately and you can start partying right away.

What happens if I lose my bracelet or my chip stops working during the festival?

If you have a problem with your chip, please go to the Cashless Help Desk as soon as possible. Our team will help you competently.

If you already have a cashless account, you can simply block the old chip and have your credit transferred to a new chip.

If you have not yet registered online, you will need your festival ticket so that the crew at the help desk can find you in the system.

 

How can I check my balance and transactions at the event?

You can check your balance at any bar or food stand once you've made a purchase. If you have registered a cashless account, you can check your account balance at any time via your mobile phone. Of course you can also check your credit at any time at the Top-Up stations.

You can also check your transactions at the Cashless Help Desk. Please only go there if you have problems, otherwise use one of the other options.

 

What should I do if there is a wrong booking or a problem at the bar or food stand?

If there is a booking problem or something has been incorrectly billed, please contact the supervisor of the stand in question. They can help you and correct the error.

 

Security aspects and data protection

Is this all secure?

Definitely! Weezevent is our partner and responsible for the cashless system. We have an established cashless provider here who looks after hundreds of events throughout Europe every year. Your money is absolutely safe on the chip, and Weezevent adheres to all legal regulations and data protection guidelines.

What happens to my data?

Every use of the chip and thus every charge or purchase is recorded electronically. Therefore you are not completely anonymous. But you don’t need to worry about your personal data: the information on your cashless account will of course remain private!

We attach great importance to data security. We strictly comply with all regulations and laws, including GDPR, and do not share data with partners or sponsors.

Will my movements be monitored and evaluated during the event?

No, the chips do not contain a GPS tracking system. It's just a payment system!

 

What happens to my remaining balance from last year?

Log in to your festival account from 2022, go to "Transactions" and follow the steps to get a refund from there. Your remaining credit from last year cannot be used again.
